What can you take in the plane cabin when you travel?

A desire to move?

Freedom of travel authorized again, it's time to look at flights for our next vacation.

But on the plane, what can we take in our toiletry bag or vanity ?

You don't want to arrive at airport control, and have to throw it away trash of objects or products that you are prohibited from taking with you?

Concerning passenger baggage, airlines have very strict rules imposed by law to enforce.

In order to help you prepare your suitcase and your toiletry bag, here are the regulations to apply. Also consult our complete guide toiletry bag en airplane so as not to forget anything.

What liquids are allowed in airplane cabin baggage?

All your bottles and containers must have a maximum capacity of 100 ml per bottle, and be collected in a kit transparent, or a transparent plastic bag, and taken out of your suitcase to be in sight of the inspector during inspection.

List of liquids that can be carried up to 100 ml :

• Food or drinks (soups, yogurts, compotes, etc.)

• Lotions, creams, toothpastes, oils, lacquers...

• Perfumes, deodorants...

• Shower gels, hair gels, hydroalcoholic gels, shampoo...

Can we take more liquid or baby food?

Yes, provided they are used to be consumed on the plane, for a baby under 2 years old.

Can we take medicines on the plane?

As for medicines, syrups, tablets, capsules, gels, you can leave with more than 100 ml. You are also not obliged to put them in the bag or the transparent case, and leave them in your luggage.

We recommend that you take with you a prescription or a doctor's certificate, for medications that are on prescription.

Provision for people with reduced mobility

It is possible to travel with your walker. It is generally considered as personal mobility equipment and can be used until boarding and disembarking the plane, and then stored in the hold of the plane.

Be sure to notify yourself before your trip to benefit from personalized support before, during and after the flight, with a rolling seat at provision. Some airlines require this to be done 48 hours before departure.

It is always recommended to check the airline's specific policies before traveling to be sure.

How does this work for liquids purchased in airport Duty Free?

These products are located in the area after the security check, so they are not subject to the limitation of 100 ml.

Remember to keep the receipt as proof in case of verification, or in the event that you have a connecting flight. Because you will have to go through security again, and without supporting documents, they could be seized.

What items are prohibited in the hold or cabin?

Here is the list of products prohibited on an airplane :

• Firearms and ammunition (even fake or ball bearing)
• Sharp, pointed or sharp objects (also hammers)
• Inflammable or explosive substances.
• Toxic, chemical, radioactive and gas.
• Household products (bleach, scale remover, remover, dishwashing liquid, etc.).
• Magnetic masses
• Thermometers because of mercury.

PS : The security agent may also consider other specific products or objects dangerous, and refuse them on the plane (such as a sewing needle example)

Hand baggage or personal item: what's the difference?

The hand baggage is the baggage that you keep with you in the cabin. The companies distinguish two: thepersonal item (backpack, handbag), free and stored under the seat in front of you, and the cabin suitcase, larger, placed in the trunk above your head, often chargeable with low-cost airlines cost.

And the weight? It depends on the company and your ticket: 10 kg for the cabin suitcase with Ryanair, Vueling or Volotea, 12 kg in total in Economy with Air France. All dimensions are in our cabin baggage size guide.
